  • On my Buchardts, I am just listening to...

As we all love the listening experience on our Buchardt gear, I would highly appreciate to get some recommendation for great tracks.

To make a start: I listen to „This Bitter Earth“ a fantastic Jazz album by the young singer Veronica Swift. I absolutely fell in love with her beautiful voice.

Oh by the way, for comparison of different streaming qualities, does anybody know some audiophile tracks that are available at a) Tidal, b) Deezer and c) Qobuz, each time in the best available HiRes version?

Here are some recommendations for people that don't like their neighbors but demanding metal music
      • "Zügellos" from the band "Angizia" from the album "Des Winters finsterer Gesell"
      • "Paranoid Bulldozer Italiano" from the band "Igorrr" from the album "Spirituality And Distortion"
      • "Oxen of the Sun" from the band "Free Salamander Exhibit" from the album "Undestroyed"
You should find them all in your favorite music streaming app.
Especially the last track is very impressive with the A700 speakers in terms of sub bass energie.

Uff... that’s a huge step from Veronica Swift to this kind of music 😅

      Hello Piano0412

That Veronica certainly has a pure voice, and I'm guessing you like piano, thanks for that.

Hard to know where to begin, but.....Here be 10 of my fave ladies. A small random but eclectic selection of female vocalists singing great tracks (no heavy metal), some obvious, some not. They all have a certain Je ne sais quoi as they say in Europe. I have put the Youtube links but I am in England so they may not work in your country. Food for thought...

Ana Popvic - Slow Dance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr38...=RedGreyMatter

Princess Chelsea - The Cigarette Duet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TV_...27ChiefRecords

Roberta Flack - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqW-...rtaFlack-Topic

Maria Danes - That's What The Blues Is All About https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQ7y...el=MariaDaines

      Mighty Mo Rogers - A Mother's Prayer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtCF...oRodgers-Topic

Tracy Chapman - Baby Can I Hold You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqoL...l=TracyChapman

      K.D.Lang - Western Stars https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaPb...k.d.lang-Topic

The Motels - Total Control https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLcS...heMotels-Topic

Edit: Nearly forgot. Agnes Obel, anything by her, audiophile heaven!

Oh my God! Here is another one. Probably the sexiest song ever ever. EVER!

      Sophie Zelmani - Shades https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPsB...annel=impel123

....and for purity....Rebecca Pidgeon - Spanish Harlem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RMT...nnel=nimophile

Yes. I'm going on a journey, and it looks like you're coming with me.

Not forgetting lovely Norah. Norah Jones - Don't know why https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO4d...norahjonesVEVO

I just put on an album from Qobuz: 50 Greatest pieces of Classical Music. They are piano and organ solos and only CD quality but, OMG, the sound quality through my A500s is stunning marvelous! The piano notes are distinct but with a sparkling amount of decay. And the bass notes almost shake the room. I had to reduce the volume to keep the peace with my neighbors. LOL!

I just put on the Veronica Swift album. It has the same problem that I experienced with other female vocals ( eg Roberta Flack, The first time …) in that the orchestra overpowers the singer, who appears to be behind a screen, rather than being present in the room.

          Is this my imagination?

Will any of the master tunings bring the singer more forward? I am currently using MT 2.0 with LLE

Maybe you need to modify your room acoustics. Before, you could try either the new Foreward Midrange MT or the Theoretical MT.

Now I have on Nora Jones, “Don’t know why…”. She has a fantastic voice but I have the same problem.

It appears there is a trailing-edge coloration, or reverberation, to her voice that is similar to what I hear with other female vocals. I think that is causing the “veiled” effect.

Has anyone else noticed this or are my ears the problem?

BTW, Nora’s singing sounds a lot like Billie Holiday.

It is often more a question about how the music is recorded, but you could give the "Forward Midrange" mastertuning a try. It's available on the homepage

They are sensational these A500s. Listening to the Velvet Underground for example - the music can be chaotic at times (to say the least) but these speakers provide so much space that you can understand each part and therefore understand the whole. And i'm still using the factory tuning.

Has to be played at volume 11 obvs.

But then I thought, how on earth do you follow that?

Thank you for your suggestions! I started listening to them via Deezer Hifi. That's more adequate than YT

I have another great voice for you: Denean, "As One" As One - YouTube

And this is one of my all time favorite voices since more than 25 years: Suzy Bogguss, Drive South - YouTube

Hi Piano, interestingly I shazamed that very song by Denean recently when I inadvertently stumbled into one of those shops selling essential oils, crystals, spirit catchers etc. all the ingredients for a rousing tree hugging session. Now when I listen to it, I get an overpowering scent of Petuli oil assailing my senses. How weird is that? Smell by association. So thanks for the voice, but I have to pop out for some fresh air now.

Ok, so here are another 10 seriously quality lady singers with great tracks that will do your speakers justice and everyone should wrap their earlobes round in my humble opinion. They are at the mellower end of the jazz/blues spectrum so you may have to suppress your inner headbanger.

Malia - Love in Vain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5RT...el=MALiA-Topic

Katie Melua - Learning the blues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO4n...el=deadparrrot

Christina Jaccard - I'm not ashamed to sing the blues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdE9...aJaccard-Topic

Diana Krall - California Dreamin' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk6J...nel=DianaKrall

Stacey Kent - So Nice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZV2...nel=betttyblue

                Eva Cassidy - Ain't no sunshine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccmX...nel=EvaCassidy

Luz Casal - Piensa en mi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS04...uzCasalOficial

                Chantal Chamberland - Don't Explain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGk3...el=MariMari142

Gloria Lynne - Speaking of Happiness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raKx...hannel=mavedro

Some days ago, I fell over Andrea Schroeder. I immediately fell in love with her dark voice. I can highly recommend the Blackbird album, most of all "Paint it Blue"

But today, I am more in a rocking mood. Just playing Kip Moore, " She's Mine".

Wow! Thanks for Andrea Schroeder "Paint it Blue". Also love her "Helden" cover of David Bowie's/Brian Eno's Heroes. She be sultry saucy lady, definitely adding her to my collection. Not quite so convinced by Kip Moore who seems like a Bruce Springsteen wannabe, but got me leaping around anyway. Keep 'em coming Piano0412

I will trade you Kovacs, she got a voice to be reckoned with. "Shades of Black" is an epic album that will keep your speakers fit as a fiddle.

Try this for size....Kovacs - "Shirley (Sound of the underground)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6R6...l=Kovacs-Topic
